But seriously, it is surprising to know Mark Harmon started out in something that sucked so very, VERY bad and wound up in something so very successful like NCIS.
I mean this episode sucks so bad they keep playing the loooong Stelara drug commercial apparently because they don't think anyone is paying attention LOL

The horror...the horror. Just kidding. This was indeed the worst episode of Emergency! I've seen. I hope this episode wasn't the cause of the show's cancellation, although it certainly was bad enough to be. I know it's a little girl playing a role but boy was she bad. Worst acting ever! I couldn't wait until her scenes were over. Even the Emergency! regulars cheesed out on this one. How many shots of the docs, Dixie, John and Roy, the hand-injured firefighter, and the two Animal Control guys after the successful goat surgery did we need? The only reason I sat through it was because this is my all-time favorite tv series and I hadn't seen it before now. The senior Animal Control guy was in half a dozen Clint Eastwood movies, both as a good guy and bad guy.

Hurray! for melodramatic heavy handed direction by the king of procedurals, Jack Webb, and lots of bad acting. Apparently this was Mark Harmon's second ever film job. It's a backdoor pilot with the usual Webb formula, two guys in a vehicle responding to calls for assistance. One's older, one's younger; one's married, one's not. Presumably if we'd spent more time with them, the younger would have been shown as a goofball. (Ever seen "Requiem for a Pig" on Adam-12? great show, except for all the bits where Malloy calls Reed stupid or incompetent.) What's worse, this is the last episode of "Emergency!" on Hulu (at this time), so I can't even wash away the memory with another one. On the other hand, the animal control guys have better hats, plus they get to wear repaints of those LA county police helmets. (Seriously, why did the county cops all wear motorcycle helmets?)

Who "green-lighted" this awful pilot for 905 Wild? It would have been one of the worst TV dramas ever.
