i liked this episode for one reason...it paired my favorite real-life couple, james farentino and michelle lee together. people seem to forget...the seventies was really the age of the supercouples...there was christopher george and lynda day george...and of course, lee majors and farrah fawcett majors.
is it me or in this episode does dr. smith from lost in space have a bit of a man-crush on james farentino. i can't say that i blame him though. in his heyday james farentino was a fine piece of peter. still, i don't think he was an easy guy to live with since michelle lee divorced him a few years later. i remember him on dynasty as dr. nick toscani. he was brought in to tame the high spirited fallon carrington colby.
speaking of soap opera mavens, michelle lee reached the zenith of her popularity as the buttinsky and self-righteous karen fairgate on knots landing. the character of mac seemed like a blatant rip off of her ex-husband james farentino.
i love any sci-fi episode that deals with the occult and i love james farentino's initial skepticism. of course, dr. smith gets his wish when james farentino drops by and pays him a visit. unfortunately, he doesn't spill a magic potion on james farentino to get him out his clothes...lol.
i wish michelle lee had been as strong in the piece as she was in knots landing. i hate seeing her as such a willing victim. in real life though, she knew when to drop james farentino which must have been quite a feat considering how many years he had been her sexy leading man.
