Well acted, extremely good editing. The plot was a bit lame. Benton got a Pulitzer for chasing a murder story but he did not investigate any details. NOW, three days before the killers' execution, he investigates. This drama never addresses the issue that Benton did not do his job the first tme. In addition to that Tom Conti is too good for a minor walk on. The journalist working environment is too glossy. And Benton's apt should have been loaded with radios,TVs, and illegal scanners, all blaring different stations at the same time. Benton doesn't drive a car, how can he stay aware of what is happening if he doesn't listen to radios/scanners constantly? Good journalists have a driving need to KNOW. For most serious journalists, the really good ones, it is never just a job. It is a calling. Benton is written as 'serious' but he has none of the wallpaper to support that assertion.
