First of all, they should dump the unbelievable, and now cliche gay guy. I know effeminate men at my own place of employment that are actually somewhat interesting. Not this fool.
Second, two domineering female personalities are one too many. A single Captain Weir, or Captain Janeway are sufficient to give a TV show some oomf. More than that, and the show gets too catty.
Otherwise the show is too clean. Everything works nicely, everyone's beautiful, and there's no dirt and grime and problems with network connectivity or blue screens of death here.
So in the end, there's nothing here for the audience to connect to on a physical level, and shallow drama on the emotional level. There's very little to identify with.
