Through the years, every cop show in any format has devoted at least one of its episodes to the crooked police officer, those who use their position and influence to undermine the people they serve and the oath they took to uphold the law. I think Lt. Chris Drucker offers a different viewpoint to this type of criminal. Most crooked cops we hear about have been so for years, and most likely from the time they first put the badge on. But I think Drucker is different. For most of his career, he worked vice, the prevention of illegal gambling and bookmaking. He spent his days making busts and putting people away. But, as he tells Sgt. Friday, he knows that for every bookmaking operation he busts, there will always be another one to step in. Of course, he gets paid a lot of money for keeping the organization he works for from prosecution, but deep down I think the reason he goes bad is because he's tired of making busts but not seeing the crime decrease. A cop who has this feeling should take honorable retirement, not go to the other side of the law. Is he crooked? Yes. Should he be punished? Yes. But, hopefully after you see this episode, you'll learn that the crooked cop comes in more than one package.
