I had no idea of this conference in 1977. It is great to be able to see how not very long ago true conversations, in a national and global scale, began on a topic that actually turned out not just to only affect women, but all areas of life of all people.
An interesting part of this video is when one of the male interviees speaks of men not understanding the Equal Rights Amendment, because as long as they were concerned women did have equal rights: they could vote and go anywhere they wanted, then a white female interviee speaks of not being aware of minority women's issues because white women thought that talking about equality automatically included all women and covered all relavent topics. This sociological dynamic shows how in the big picture unequal treatment has more to do with assumptions and ignorance between two(or plus) groups of people then they actually have to do with the particular differences between the groups(sex, race, sexual preference, etc.). So whatever united all women during the conference and made white women aware of how unequal the unequal treatment was distributed among women, could maybe make men realize how equality is not actually being distributed equally to women after all.
