There would be no way we could take a shower without having human contact to get to the shower as there is no shower in the pod. And you would have to leave your pod to get to the shower, so two main aspects of the show would be violated. And there is no way they would build showers into the pods. But we do occasionally get some wet wipes for what it's worth. :-)   See 8 other replies

I think one reason the pain was more tolerable for him is because he probably has the most fat on his body and there was more for the clips to hold onto. Also he has all of those tattoos so be obviously is used to sustained amounts of pain ( I know I've got two tattoos and 5 piercings). I'm glad he did well in this treatment.   See 5 other replies

I wonder how long this treatment actually is? I've heard that it was 8 weeks. Still they shouldn't even have any contact with anyone! Not the phonecall at the begining or the conversation between the last two at the end. No contact with anyone! However, I think that the no shower policey is a little extreme.   See 8 other replies

I actualy think that they are whinning because they have no idea what is up ahead of them. Even if they've seen the show. It must be hard living with minimal sleep and almost no food except for those crappy meal bars. And besides, you don't have any buisness making fun of them if you've never actualy been on the show.   See 5 other replies

I watch for similar reasons you do. However, I very much like the psychological element of the show, a penalization system for a round or two might be interesting.And I think MOST people watch these reality shows for the drama. I mean, it seems to me that this show has evolved in the past two seasons to lean more towards the trainwreck style shows in order to gain more viewership. I don't think this was the right choice, but it seems that this is what the networks do for viewers. Maybe most of us who watch Solitary are not like the other drama/"reality" show viewers, but we may not be the strong demographic to which Fox must appeal.Oh well, I hope Solitary does not follow in the direction of other game shows.   See 5 other replies

If this were a discussion about the trainwreck-style reality shows that air on VH1 I would be inclined to agree, but I strongly disagree here. You and the OP might watch for the suffering but that doesn't mean we all do. I along with many others watch for the game and documentary aspects of shows like this, Survivor, The Amazing Race, The Mole, etc. I grew up a big fan of game shows, so when I watched the first season of Survivor back in 2000 it was like an evolved version of one. It was immersive and groundbreaking, and for the viewer, it allowed us to pick favorites and form opinions of the contestants as it unfolded, something we could never really do with a random episode of Press Your Luck or American Gladiators. Solitary is a current favorite of mine because of its highly unique concept and challenges, not because I enjoy random people's misfortune.   See 5 other replies
