When referring to the Bible in the episode, I was surprised that the endless issues that absolutely no one today would ever accept today, that are present in the Bible, were never brought up. For example, Leviticus also allows fathers to sell their daughters into slavery and equally condemns eating shellfish to a man lying down with a man as though with a woman. The verse before that one(18:22) Leviticus 18:21 states: 'Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. " In other words, it is ok to sacrifice your children to the Lord - the only thing wrong with this sacrifice of your children is that it isn't for the LORD.
And please, if you want to take this book literally, please don't forget: Leviticus 19:19-22:
19 " 'Keep my decrees.
" 'Do not mate different kinds of animals.
" 'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
" 'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.
20 " 'If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed. 21 The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for a guilt offering to the LORD. 22 With the ram of the guilt offering the priest is to make atonement for him before the LORD for the sin he has committed, and his sin will be forgiven."
Aren't you glad you believe in the literal translation and absolute authority of the Bible? I could go on for hours. Just read Leviticus yourself and the rest of the Bible, as I have, if you want to believe it or to simply really understand it. As a book of mythology, it is very important as it has been an important work in shaping our culture. But as the TRUTH????????
