Thief: Everything That Rises Must Converge

I too love a good thief movie. I would have given it 5 stars, save all of the racial slurs. I also like the intrigue of getting away with something, powerful women, Chinese mafia, terminal illnesses, loyalty (or lack thereof), and nasty, ungrateful teenagers that we want to beat down. It has feeling of reality to it, shows real-life situations and the endings are not always happy. Hope something else like this comes along again soon ... minus the anti-racial/religious crap.

Shucks, what's up with these shows? This has great acting, drawing you in and then poof.... no more. So what's it gonna take to get a show to stick around??

Hulu should reserve a portion of its site for shows such as this; call it the TV Show Purgatory. Make it a kind of place where great prematurely cancelled shows come to live that portion of their afterlife before final judgment. Kings, Wire in the Blood, Doc Martin, Da Vinci's Inquest... and now Thief can subsist as ghosts, neither fully recognized nor completely forgotten.

This story is getting less and less likely.

I like this show, and wish there were more episodes because the acting is great and the plot is thickening every episode.

BUT. being a jazz player and music nerd if you will, the information about the jazz is completely wrong. First of all they were right about John Coltrane's Giant Steps, but absolutely wrong about the personnel at least on this record. It's true Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones did play with Coltrane but not on this track/record, maybe because they were in his band for an extended period of time and it's more mainstream (like jazz is SO mainstream or something!)

All and all. Great show.
