Friday is not a native american ie- feather/tomahawk. crusoe was in brazil headed towards england. they are no where near north america. the ship was also headed to guinea to pick up slaves in africa. native means indigenous people. savage at the time was used to refer to anyone who was 'uncultured' and 'uncivilized' no matter where they were from. Friday is an african native warrior. i don't think the writers would have cast an african to play a native american. besides, the show is filmed in South Africa.
