The retiring salesman here, Robert Emhardt, was an outstanding character actor, and one of Hitchcock's favorites. Jeanette Nolan played the intense and savvy bereaved Mom in this long-term, quiet, double-crime investigation. Don Taylor directed this Robert C. Dennis teleplay of a very inventive and suspenseful Henry Slesar murder mystery. Leaves a couple loose ends, but still a very satisfying tale and ending.
A few more reports like this of home sales gone awry might explain why the real estate market is so bad now.
