Great series. Really glad I came across it. Loved Lucas's Hardy Boys comment. I remember watching Shaun Cassidy as Joe Hardy eons ago.

Good job Shaun Cassidy, i've never heard of this tv series,but im glad i found it on here.i feel this series could stand toe to toe with anything steven king or wes craven to name a few .{no disrespect to them} :) i enjoyed it very much,i watched all episodes non stop,,,not coutning a few breaks and to eat and make coffee over a quite weekend. almost all reveiws i have read have said that they wished it would of lasted a few more seasons, and i have to agree, i dont watch tv much unless i catch a good series and get interested from pilot to end. but sure,,,5 stars from me. American gothic .......to me,,,A cross between" the stand" and "Dexter" (wich are very great show in there own right!) going to go find another good one to check out,,any suggestions on some good tv series or movies like this one hit my profile and leave a message Shadow.

I have to agree with one of the posters that there were a few episodes that were not as good as the rest, but that is like that with any series. When originally aired, I missed the last half of the season so was over joyed when I saw it on hulu. I think this series could air now and garnish some good ratings. Overall, great series.

A couple of the episodes were a bit squirly, but all in all, what a great show. I remeber hearing about this back then, but never watched. Thanks Hulu!

i loved this series, albeit there is only one season. the Gail and Caleb's change of attitude toward Lucas was subtle and very well done. i think that the main issue the writers raised was that Evil is often quite a likable fella, and the choices we have to make are never simple.i was disappointed by the Leutenant's demise. Lucas did not have many characters that could stand up to him. and all of the characters were eventually won over by his charisma.
the fact that he is Evil is true, but the writers made it so hard not quesion it and even to sympathize with him. therein lies the high quality of the series.the acting was really good, the plot development was exceptional. you never knew how things would turn out. the writing was just super. it was sophisticated, clear, emotionally moving, etc.but i could totally see that they counted on the next season to continue to develop the storyline and the arc.it boggles the mind how some cookiecutter dimwitted crotch obsessed shows with one to nodimentional characters go on staining the silver screen with their presence, while shows that are intriguing, clever, original and otherwise addictive are canceled.
then again, i have dealt with TV producers of the younger generation. they are even dumber, bimbo-ish and uneducated than the shows they produce.thanks Hulu for recognizing a gem!

was there just the one season? I didn't get to watch it every often because of working swing shift. Thank you Hulu for running it. I really enjoyed it. caden410
