First of all... the "diapers" were not at all... they were accurate for both the culture and era.. the baby had on a "SWADDLING CLOTH". They were what WAS copied for the original cloth diapers.

Next... the cameraman at 38:18... was exactly that... a 35mm STILL photographer shooting set scenes with a 35mm SLR. You can see him advance the shutter twice.

It was probably a Nikon Photomic FTN... for the date of production...

And he was dress in the high knee boots and uniform of the other soldiers to blend it more.

I didn't see this movie till the first time Hulu posted it. I liked it then and I like it now the second time I watched it.

I would love to see more movies with either Sidney Poitier or James Garner.

NOTE: I disagree Abc X, That was a 35mm still camera. So that perspective could show up in the movie. Remember in 1966 movie cameras were as big as camels. So you would have seen a man in a uniform sitting behind a camel sized camera, not a holding up a handheld camera.

There was no such thing as a woman in pants and cut hair. Belle Star (the bank robber) is an example. Also, the Apaches were great marksman-to miss every time is not so.

As a child my stepfather took us to see this movie at a drive in. I only saw the first 15 minutes because I fell asleep. He ranted and raved about this movie his whole life and it was good to finally see the whole thing.

I wasn't even aware of the fact that Sidney Poitier was in a western, let alone played a role back in those days in one as a black man who wasn't just a stereotype. That alone took the movie form a 4 to a 5 - especially for that genre.
