The point of the movie is to show the other half of their lives. What you have read about is displayed in this movie as the writings of Dr. Watson. This is just looking at what is not included in your readings.

That said the acting is poor, direction is weak, and the idea behind the movie is missed.

The actors did not act. Hamming it up seemed the effort. The director has no conception of Arthur Conan Doyle's characters. Give me Basil Rathbone or the Jeremy Brett (the best interpreter of the character. I quit after five minutes of this poor, sordid drivel that mocks my favorite detective. I should have known when dust came out of a sealed box. You should remove this movie from the list.

An intresting tale although watson acted more like one would expect him to have acted when they first hooked up rather than as the experianced adventurer he later became.

ok, so i love sherlock holmes. well, really, I love basil rathbone and nigel bruce. so, this moive was kinda sucky. once you have seen the master at work, it is hard to watch others bungle the character!

this movie is a bizarre sherlock movie. the plot is not in keeping with the ACD story lines. i made it through the whole film, but was unimpressed...
