Someone, I think it was Summer, said that she knew Shepherd's "secret" and that Whedon may still reveal it in some later media, like another spin-off comic.

The show had a original 13 episode order, was canceled after 6 or 7 episodes, but all 13 were produced. There was also a movie made 4 years later, Serenity. There are 'Browncoat' events held in different cities throughout the year, on is 'Can't Stop the Serenity', where Serenity is shown in a theatre, all proceeds go to charity. http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/

In answer to your question, no there aren't that much more, the show was canceled midway through the first season, at I think episode 13.A while later, a movie studio picked up the rights to make a film to the show, and so a movie was made to bring an end to the series. The movie is called "Serenity".

River is my favorite. And Gail is right. She is the core of the series, and the movie shows what Whedon planned for her to develop into. I like her peculiarity and her outbursts. She personifies emotion in raw form, without being filtered through viewpoint or insecurity. In society, everyone must wear a mask and raise to a standard in order to be accepted or understood. River has no mask. You always know exactly how she feels and what she thinks. And there's the whole genius/dancer/kick-*ss fighter thing.
