i agree, the mandarin is unusual to have. But, they should keep the Western. it is great parallels to the frontier life in 19th century America

I took the time to read everyone's comments and am wondering...who started making this about racism?
It was originally about explaining the combination of English and Chinese languages. Joss' reasoning behind his script... Not Racism.
It seems people's personal feelings on race is getting in the way.

The reason their is only one season of Firefly is when fox produced the show they aired it to the wrong audience. Most fans didnt even know it existed until it was re ran on Sci Fi. It was from the stronge fan base it gained on Sci Fi that pushed for the movie. I forgot who actualy made the movie tho. A friend of mine mentioned something about it even being on HBO at one time before airing on Fox's main channel. Not sure on the full details of that. Hope this info helps tho. See 4 other replies
