Isn't it typical of television networks? They come-up with a show that's absolutely great, and they cancel it! It's a good thing that I'm not paranoid, or I might think that they have it in for me...LOL! This series is truly original, and the creators, well they're masterful geniuses!!! WAKE-UP FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you see on the TV is often just another rehashed version of the one that came before. This series is definitely unique. The first episode i ever saw was the second one and I was not impressed. Being from Montana I thought that a space western was stupid. I never watched another. Long after it had been canceled I was given the complete set by my roommate. Since there was nothing on TV I gave it another chance and watched them all. I loved it. This is by far one of the best series I have ever watched in the 30 years I have watched TV. A good story is never unveiled in one episode. It is the continuing saga of this group that pulls you in. All the rolls are played well. You will find yourself cheering them on. No goofy aliens or time travel garbage. Touches on logic in that space would be the new wild west and that Chinese would be spoken by all as they are the largest and faster growing populations on earth therefore permeating future society. the savages are an awesome touch and sparse enough to get you blood pumping when they appear. I am glad that Joss made A movie to conclude this story. Firefly lovers demanded it and Joss delivered. I loved the movie but felt that there was a lot that was missing. the story had so much room he just couldn't fit it all in 2hrs or less. Oh and guys keep a napkin near by for when you are watching Inara and Saffron you will need it to clean up your drool. Dang those women are HOT!!

can you say spageti western? very convoluted plot, simple to follow but its all over the place. The love interest should have been River IMO

It's really sad to think that somewhere, someone is sitting back thinking how smart they were to cancel this show...while everyone else thinks they're stupid. And just dumb enough not to notice.

I heard from the commentary that this was the episode around the time the cast and crew got the news they had been canceled. That adds to the tone of the funeral scene quite nicely,

Such a shame this show didn't make it. There are very few things worth watching on TV these days and what with the writers strike causing other shows to be cut short - an already struggling format over run with faux realty and poorly researched news casts takes another hit. I expect sites like Hulu.com are the way forward - online content, archived and ready to view as and when you want to watch with a lot less commercials(for now anyway).

I've been catching up with the episodes of Firefly that I watched and have noticed that there was something about having to wait week to week to see the show rather than having it on demand. I'm not complaining and I guess I could wait a week between episodes again (year right), but its too much temptation to just click and watch "just one more".

I agree somewhat with erict that the show started to get formulaic at the later episodes, yet it was still a great idea and a great series. Maybe Firefly is so popular and so well loved because it is just these few treasured episodes. Just look at how they ruined LOST!
