I love the intros to each of the episodes giving the preliminary background...they don't have that in the dvd's.

This series brings the old west feel to sience fiction. One of the greates dreams is exploring new territory, creating new experiances, ideas and ways of living that no others have experianced yet. This series brings all of these dreams and delivers the escape in the best series I have seen yet! So the only question is... when are you bringing it back?

The full name of the Alliance is the Anglo-Sino Alliance. Joss felt that in a future Earth, the U.S. Government and the Chinese Government could come together as a global power, and then with the terraforming, it makes sense that the global power on Earth would wish to maintain that power on the new earths. It's why there is such a blend of Christianity with Buddhism, English with Chinese, and Old Western with Chinese fashions. The Alliance's flag is even a blending of the U.S. and Chinese flags. This is one of the most entertaining shows I've had the pleasure to watch. Bought the series and the movie. There are a few series that have been short lived that truly great to watch. Dirt, Dirty, Sexy Money to name a couple. Too bad good entertainment is not recognized by those who fund it. They are losing money on me........don't watch TV anymore because it is so inane. Sad to see Hulu has cut but the first five episodes. Why I went out and bought it.

Regardless of cost or tech, you still have to notice that pretty much nobody in this show wears any kind of body armor. There was an episode with alliance soldiers standing around wearing *some* armor, but it wouldn't have given enough protection to render kinetic weapons useless anyway. Basically, they don't need laser guns or other types of energy-based weapons; even in the scope of this show current weapons would be more than enough to kill pretty much anyone you come across, even alliance personnel.
