The plot hinging on the information provided by a mynah bird's Tourette's eruptions is kinda offbeat, I guess, but maybe I've seen variations on this too many times before; here it just seemed kinda gimmicky and trite. Plus, guest star Burgess Meredith is rather underused, unless you get your jollies from seeing him get the snot beat out of him, and there's a not very satisfying payoff with the roundup of the bad guys. On the plus side, the fire scare and attempted bird-napping was clever, and the following coffeklatch out by the pond, clearly in close-up a rear-projection process shot, was good for a chuckle. But a valuable piece of the Eve Whitfield jigsaw puzzle is provided: whatever you do, don't send her the wrong kind of hat and charge it to her! She'll tear you a new one.
The villain's girlfriend Elda, played by Kathie Browne, is probably a familiar face to many viewers of 60's and 70's episodic tv. She had appeared once before on "Ironside" and would do so once again, and was in the original Star Trek episode about the superfast aliens, "Wink of an Eye." She was married to actor Darren McGavin from "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" fame.
