I really enjoyed this one, but then I'm partial to any of them that spotlight Eve. While waiting fretfully to see if she'll survive surgery after a shooting, the crew reflects on past moments with her. Most interestingly, we see how her first chance encounter with Ironpants--as a witness to a crime at a dive bar she at which she was slumming--sets her on a change of course, from carefree socialite to dedicated police officer. The director and editor were having a ball with this one; there are clever, well-done cutaways galore, shuttling quickly between reminesence and the present. If only they'd had more of a budget for sets: they use that same arched alleway and exterior wooden staircase we've already seen in a dozen epsiodes! And I'm pretty sure the bar and Eve's mansion home had been used before, as well.Love the ending and the use to which the Chief's birthday present is put.
