Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full The Mystery that is River
This episode is a precursor to the movie Serenity. What I liked about the overall series is that it was not one dimensional. In that it was not solely about River Tam's secret. But this episode gives you a peek into what may come. JW was very careful not to reveal too much too soon and I liked that. We get a sense of the government's hand in River's future. Another poster mentioned that each character was developed and fleshed out in the overall storyline and I agree. Give us more Firefly!!!

this one is great beacause it shows a slightly different side of everyone and it really shows Jayne's and Mal's true character. Thanks HULU!

extremly tense ep. Way too much gore. If you're sensitive to blood I recommend skipping this episode.

Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full How did I miss out on this series?!
How did they not get at least 4 or 5 seasons of this series? The concept is gold, the writing is stellar, the ensemble cast works together like clockwork, great pacing, and even with nine characters everybody comes through as multidimensional, which isn't easy to do with that big a cast in only 44 minutes. What was Fox thinking when they canceled this?

Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_empty Rating_empty 2 by 2 hands are blue
This episode has style elements similar to x-files. Previous commenters mentioned this one as being about River - but it's also a good episode for learning more about Jayne's character – he has a heart, he also has a brain (somewhat), but money has driven him too far. Even though the plot of this one is a mishmash of ideas from other shows/movies, it is well executed and definitely carries the overall series plot along at a good pace that makes you want to watch more.

Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Scary.
The crew stands to die in multiple ways on every episode, but none of those backwoods deaths seem anywhere near as spooky as even a reprimand from the Alliance. All these hardscrabble ignorant worlds at least have a kind of warmth to them. The only real dystopian representation in the Firefly universe is at the Core.

Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Rating_full Just gets better!
Exciting episode with more attention to the mysterious River. Since I missed all of this series, I am enjoying getting the whole thing in one whack without waiting for the week to go by. Gives a recluse like me, something to look forward to.
