I tend to rate interviews much lower than the show itself, since I think they're less designed to entertain, and more to inform. They usually don't spark as much of a reaction in me emotionally. I've noticed, especially in the longer clips that Tony (Monk) is really excellent at being interviewed.
I find it interesting that I was able to place 2 out of the 3 episodes that were favorite mysteries, which he referred to without any extra description. That in itself tells me that what he enjoyed more may have mattered more to his audience too. As Tom Gresham says, "I'm a sample of one." Meaning I can't decide alone what resonated with the audience like it would for Tony, but it's still an interesting thought.
