The Latin-American mindset about family is broken. They subscribe to a form of familial tribalism, an intellectual parasite that has long sense been disparaged by the modern world. A lack of trust for anyone outside of the family is a strong contingency in the lack of development in the Latin American world. The saying is "for the Latin-American man first to his family, then to his friends, then to his family's friends and then to the stranger in this path" and "for family everything, for strangers nothing and for enemies the law"The Latin-American concept of civic virtue is warped by a "divine right of kings" mentality, the pope is the head of the church, appointed by God and so to the pateris familia are put in charge by God.Thank goodness that this mentality tends to fade after a few generations in the US.
