I read this anime in its manga form a few years back in high school. I think its translated very well into an animated story. The story itself is a decent enough high school melodrama with emphasis on who is dating who in the tightly knit community of Japanese high school. The story begins in the middle of a complicated love triangle between Adachi Momo and several of her classmates. The biggest criticism I have for this episode is the director's shots. Many of the scenes begin looking at a character's feet. For some reason, that irks me. The audience hears a voice but they are forced to wait for the camera panning before they can see a character. The characters themselves are sort of static in their roles of angst be-ridden seekers of love, either switching to a super deformed chibi characterture or standing still of long camera pans as they think aloud to themselves while posing dramatically. If you are a fan of school day dramas, pick this one up. Its a classic. If not, be prepared to roll your eyes as cheesy saxophones play bad jazz music to soap opera-esque scenes of betrayed love. Over all a good watch. 3 stars out of 5.
