I don't agree with all these criticisms of Yuji. Yes, he was emotional at times, but consider the circumstances:1.) Yuji woke up in a post-apocalyptic world drastically different from the world he had left behind. Everything he knew about the world was virtually shattered over night (having been asleep, Yuji would have had no knowledge of just how long he had been asleep for when waking up). Such an experience would no doubt be both emotionally and psychologically taxing.2.) Yuji's character served an important purpose within the show. The Blue had almost wiped out humanity, but in the process of attempting to wipe out the Blue, the remaining humans had lost some, if not all, of their humanity. As a result, Yuji was the most human of them all. And because Yuji was the most human, he was also a catalyst of sorts, serving as an important moral counterweight to the immorality of the High Council.Ultimately, just remember that if you consider Yuji within the greater framework of the story, the portrayal of Yuji's character as emotional makes sense.
