I think the verdict in the two cases of the professor and Mr. Vogelman is not a stretch and the professor probably would be found guilty in real life because the professor did kill the victim and it was not known if Vogelman killed the victim. Reasonable doubt as to guilt is much easier to prove than to convince a viable and justifiable reason for one person killing another person However, in my opinion, self-defense would have a much better chance of acquittal for the professor if they had been allowed to proceed on it. To me the stretch is that these attys. known for their success with murder trials did not see the error the appeals court quoted them as to how they could have moved on this defense. Don't mean to step on toes, just had to share my thoughts on a good point.
