well that was an art film

if I ever saw one, no plot just rambleing scenes of typical (or many cases a-typical) human life. I found it interesting, if minotinous at times. the film maker understands what the movie is and who would be watching it and there are self-satyrical moments which I enjoyed. if the movie was any longer I would have gotten really tired of it; but I liked all the interesting charicters and thier bizaree theorys. this movie kind of made me realize just how much we live inside our own heads without noticing those around us.

Austin ain't what it used to be...

It helps to be from Austin (or to have lived in Austin at that time) to understand or "get" this flick. I don't think this film is groundbreaking, but it's interesting, funny, and even poignant at times.

Austin was a weird place back then and I'm glad this movie exists to document what a great and interesting city this used to be before Californian land speculators showed up and built condos, strip malls, and chain restaurants everywhere effectively turning Austin into a micro-Dallas.

If you've never been to Quack's on the drag, the G/M Steakhouse, or some of the other places in this movie that no longer exist you just have no idea what a truly cool film this is.

Thanks for documenting the last cool era that Austin will ever have Richard Linklater.

Lame

20 minutes into this and I have no connection, no desire to even watch another minute.

I wish I could have that 20 minutes back.

interesting

This is certainly not a typical movie. However, I'm glad I watched it. It makes me want to get out and actually do something with my life instead of just talking about doing things. I guess that's why its called Slackers.
