This show is a rip-off combination of E.T. and Close Encounters.
While that is bad enough, there are some real problems with the writing. Timelines are completely inconsistent from character to character. The secret government agency's clocks seem to run into months, the protagonist marine biologist seems to run to weeks, and the two boys to days. It is so inconsistent it makes one think they just edited shots together in any fashion they wanted and called it an episode. For example, the marine biologist runs afoul of the government agency, gets fired, framed for plagiarism, runs out of money, get's "final notice" bills in the mail and has her electricity cut off, all in less than one week.
Speaking of the marine biologist. A 25 or 26 year old actress playing the part of a seasoned marine biologist with a PhD is just ridiculous. In her bikini shots the reason why she was selected for the role is obvious.
The actor playing the part of Richard Dreyfuss does a pretty good job, and even looks like Richard.

The computer graphics are pretty decent, much better than the typical scifi channel movie.
