If you like Rosemary's Baby, you will love Carnival of souls. Not a slasher but a real movie worth your time.

This was a mystery/suspense/minor horror film. It was fairly well done, but there are some things missing, both good and bad. There was no cussing, no nudity and no sex! This was refreshing, as movies of this genre are not usually made without these vices. It was also very nice that the movie had no axe to grind toward religion. A lot of modern movies hack the Bible and the Lord to pieces. There was no life-message, nothing to learn, really, except that reckless driving is harmfull to your health. :-D For the life of me, I don't understand why it was given an "R" rating. I noticed that when the girl climbed out of the river, her hair and dress were dry, but maybe that was intentional. It would fit the ending. I loved the old cars. Good sound, good photography, pretty good acting, good fun! A good "B" movie.

Just gotta love the campy nature of this film. Sure it's predictable and the acting leaves much to be desired.....but we are not talking Gone With The Wind here. Pop up some corn, invite a few friends, and enjoy a laugh or two....

I've always loved this movie. I think its still very eerie and suspenseful. There are some bits that have gotten corny with age, especially the guy whose her neighbor, but aside from that its brilliant.
