I love the Daily Show! Anyway, Sarah Palin's excuse for not traveling more is unacceptable. Look, I know what she is talking about. There are those people who have the privilege of being able to take time off and see the world, and that's great for them but not being part of that "culture" does not excuse anything. I have been privileged to travel to certain parts of the world not because my parents handed me a passport and some money and said, go find yourself. I worked for it and earned it because I felt it important to increasing my self-awareness and making me a better human being. They are plenty of programs out there- yes, they are competitive- that afford those less fortunate the opportunity to leave their comfort zone. Look at the Peace Corps, for example! I have certainly benefitted from them. And, when I was not traveling, I was working - often times two jobs. I also think its important to point out that some people who do travel don't go just for leisure. Many people volunteer their time or work while abroad to make a difference in the places they visit. They don't just lounge on the beach all day. I find it despicable that she uses that as an excuse. This is definitely not an either or situation, it can be both if you work hard and value the importance of exposure to cultures other than your own. Ughhhh, I'm so fed up with her and the rest of her party.
