It has always been liberal. They don't write more on the side of Obama cause it's "cool". SNL is also not a news channel, so they have no need to be unbiased. The writers write to be funny, not to try to steer people in either direction. Stop treating the show like a source of fair-minded commentary, and more like what it really is; a comedy show.

i hope that you're kidding... if not, let me explain for everybody.

a pot, at the time that this phrase became popular, was usually cast iron (black metal), a kettle would usually be a silvery metal... not sure exactly, maybe tin or something. as you use a kettle the bottom (and bits of the sides) become blackened. as the pot is used, the same happens to it, but it's less noticable due to its original color. it has nothing to do with black being a bad thing, it just means to look at yourself before judging others.
