what is WITH Mary Tyler Moore?
Dude, she looks like a lizard. Awful casting. Someone must have owed someone sumthin to give that woman this role. Especially since every time she blinks she reminds viewers of a lizard. You don't have to read National Geographic to see that.
I agree that the plots are too easily resolved; permeating some elements of them would lend the show more cred and keep viewers glued.
Please keep in mind, though, that this is NOT trying to replace S&TC. No need for another Big. No need for completely unrealistic "columnists" who earn enough to ever pay off their credit cards from buying ridiculously overpriced clothing. It is merely another women-driven shows. I might have only seen one episode of Desperate Housewives, but thank gracious LJ is not any cloer than it is to THAT. That show seems to instantly inject its viewers with botox and collagen and Splenda and egregious free market capitalistic inanities.
In the end LJ at least presents three powerful women in somewhat varying degrees and controls of their careers-- and men/families.
BTW, I love that no one ever mentions (at least not to my recollection) Nico's lack of a child. YAY for childless women who can love their man and their career!
