that's a pretty bad idea for two major reasons !. your personality dose not change, you just loose memory's of having the death note but your desires still stay 2.if he gave up his memory's right then, ryuk would have taken the death note and left and light still would have been convicted.....and besides that N could see ruyk standing behind light the entire time.if light really wanted to get away he wold have let them arrest him and let them drive him to headquarter's or wherever they were going to take him and while in the car , use the hidden note in his watch to kill everyone their while there backs are turned and everyone driving in separate cars......nuff said   See 3 other replies

It would've ensured his survival, at least; and there was a chance he would someday regain his memories, should he ever figure out the watch. It would've been an interesting twist to see how they could try to punish him for a crime he essentially didn't commit.   See 3 other replies

There's a final episode that Hulu doesn't have that retells the first 3/4 of the series from the first L's point of view. Doesn't really add that much, unless you're a huge fan of L.   See 2 other replies

I would assume Misa killed herself; even if she didn't, she wouldn't have had much time left to life after taking the Shinigami Eyes deal twice. Think about it--if she was going to somehow live to be 100, that would've cut her to 50, and the second to 25; she was already in her early 20s by the end of the show. Probably only had a few more years left.
I'd imagine there would be an overnight jump in the crime rate if they announced the death of Kira; but the wise thing to do would simply be to allow the world to think he was still alive for a while.   See 14 other replies

It's a simple error on the part of the creators that two different statements are made; if I recall correctly, they actually didn't have any set rules in the Manga, either, just throwing them in when they needed to, making the rules sometimes conflict or seem slightly at odds with the dialogue.   See 4 other replies

Even though Ryuk does say that any human who uses the death note does not go to heaven or hell, in episode 36 or 37, during one of the breaks, there's a Death Note rule that says that whenever someone dies, they go to Mu, which is nothingness   See 4 other replies
