Death Note has an excellent dub. Usually, my objection to dubs is that they dumb down the dialog, but I don't remember anything like that from the Death Note dub. Also, the voices are very good. Which is extremely important in dubs. (Of course, if they were still releasing videotapes as opposed to DVDs, I'd be a sub only guy. That's just how I roll.)On the other hand, I feel hostility and anger when watching xxxHolic dubbed. What's with all the weird sounding slang slang? Why did they give Watanuki that annoying voice? And so on...Most of the time, I only watch dubs when something airs on TV though. I might try a few episodes dubbed on DVD after watching the subs to see how they sound, but it's not my preferred way to watch anime. I'm still pro-Dub though, as long as they are done correctly, most people can't speed read as well as I can. Just don't radically change the translation or choose annoying voices.   See 9 other replies

If you read the manga there is a chapter 0 where there is a boy who finds a death note preceding the events of the rest of the manga and anime. The title could be referring to the rebirth of the death note in the Human World in reference to the previous owner. There is also a great deal of story outside the manga such as other books written about the death note (which I have not read) but could also be in reference to the events of that book as well.   See 3 other replies
