Seems we have extremists for both sides in this topic. I've watched Death Note all the way through twice, first when I downloaded the fansubs while it was airing in Japan, and second when the dub aired in the US. I liked both, but the dub made it far easier to watch. If I had watched the dub to begin with, I doubt I could have watched subs after. Subs are only acceptable to me when there is no dub, or it's done horribly. The elitists who refuse to admit dubs are any good sicken me. You guys make me feel just like Alyssa. You make me want to never watch a subbed anime again.That said, people who only dubs are missing out on a lot. There are some animes which just don't make it over here to be dubbed. You're missing out if you refuse to watch anything subbed. It also makes you seem like a very uncultured idiot.   See 8 other replies

Ryuk says English "was the most popular language on earth." He's right. More people speak english than any other language. Over 400 million Chinese know English which is more than the population of America. A large portion of the non-British European population also knows english. Add Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zeland, and you have alot of English talkers. So Ryuk's decision to put the instructions in English was a way to let the viewer know that he was not a "Japanese" death god, but a universal death god that was indifferent to any one culture or language, and happened to have his book land in Japan. But imagine how silly he would've felt if, by tossing it through the doorway between the human and shinigami world, it had landed in the ocean. The earth is 75% water. Ryuk probably had to fish it out of the Pacific and redrop it in Japan. That's why it was kind of water stained and worn. Just my theory.   See 22 other replies

my god i'm sick of htis. STOP WHINING ABOUT THE DUBS i like dubs mostly because i ahve poor eyesight I know when a bad dub is there but i don't go OMGZ DUBZ SUCKZORS everytime i hear a dub or see the friggan word seriously i want them to uplaod the dub along with the Japanese the two should be able to co-exist but we have people whining about "NO DON'T UPLOAD THE DUB IT WILL RUIN OUR ABILITY TO WATCH THE SERIES IF THEY'RE BOTH ON HERE!" jees people   See 8 other replies
