Moral of the story: don't wish for something through black magic if you can't handle unexpected consequences.
And: if an ultra-creepy controlling fiancee brings a gypsy foretelling death into your home, don't insult anybody or start an argument.
And: be kind to animals, and don't cut off critters' feet. That's not nice. Worse things might happen to you.
There was a scene that should have been left as a mystery and assumed to be a hallucination, but other than that, it's a good script.
Be careful what you wish for.
The cast was well known at that time: "Leif Erickson" (William Anderson, not the Viking explorer: "The High Chaparral;" "On the Waterfront;" several Westerns, hospital TV series and more), Jane Wyatt ("Father Knows Best;" Spock's human mom, original "Star Trek" series), Collin Wilcox (Mayella in "To Kill a Mockingbird"), up-and-coming "Lee Majors" (born Harvey Lee Yeary, "Six Million Dollar Man"), Janet MacLachlan (many TV mysteries--evidence of an early integrated non-stereotyped TV cast), funnyman-to-be Stuart Margolin (Evelyn "Angel" Martin of "The Rockford Files").

i'm going to go out on a limb and say that some of these alfred hitchcock hour long episodes were more provocative and more entertaining than even some of his movie features. the woman is this episode is such a sweet and dedicated mother. she just wants to love and protect her son. even the father is not a bad guy. he just wants to reverse his financial misfortune. little does he know that his son's life will be the price. the true villian in all of this is the son's fiance' who obviously doesn't give a dam* about him. she's only proud of the fact that lee majors is beautiful so she can parade him around her friends like a prize stud bull. i love these black and white alfred hitchcock hour episodes even more than the twilight zone. they possess such a film noir quality. it's really quite lovely. and how can i not mention lee majors, he has never looked more gorgeous and sweet. this one episode rivals even his six million dollar man episodes. except for the episodes which featured the bionic woman, sometimes lee majors was kinda wooden in his performances as the six million dollar man. yes, i too, wish that the mother and father had wished that their son had never been in the crash. he was so beautiful. such a magnificent hunk of male pulchritude. even after watching this cautionary tale, i would love to possess an amulet that would grant me any three wishes. i think i would make the wishes wisely.

This is an AH episode I remember from my childhood.... a classic!
