The Liberation of the Philippine Islands were strategically unnecessary and cost American lives and resources but it was done to keep faith with the Philippine people. The war that you talk about was with Muslim fanatics in the south that the Catholic Philippinoes of Luzon hated worse than bad weather. This show is realistic and possibly cynical, but definetely not anti-american. Any US citizens out there that believe that US, or any other country for that matter, when in position of dominance would not exert that dominance in strategic, military or some other way are either too naive or too stupid.   See 27 other replies

Getting Historic Facts Straight• Visit the Philippines and they would be happy to discuss the Philippine/American war with you. The U.S. was very brutal to the civilians and insurgent fighters. The population was considered barbarians by America. They resettled the rural population into concentration camps and tortured for info. It was a bloody war. • Go to Vietnam, the resettlement of the rural population into hamlets to make them more manageable, torture for info, Spreading deadly chemicals, burning villages to save them. Let me count the ways.• Iraq, kicking in the doors during the night taking the men and boys to Abu Graib. Ah, Guantanamo, what can I say. Helping the Iraqi's by burning down their society to save them-
" They will thank us later". It's getting tougher to do an invasion in these days without the world seeing it's brutality and how a war can have good men do bad things. Those N Carolina troopers didn't pack those dog collars and hoods with matching tunics in their gear. Bad people running a government can do bad things to it's people, be it the Sudam or country's with leaders in the pockets of oil interests. History is really a b**ch. Research is good, burying your head in the sand doesn't make you an informed voter. Is the show anti-American? Look at the American shows; no one can get it right except the American characters. Only America can save the world. Any actor with a non-American accent is told to get an American accent. Hugh Laurie, Simon Baker, lots of others. As for the American characters in the show, Jill would have been fired from any research center I know of. She's an irresponsible researcher.   See 27 other replies

I tend to see a lot of Americans as sheep-like too. Its amazing how many people I meet in the street every day who do not see, hear, know anything about what really goes on, and would prefer to keep it that way. Canadians did not coin the term "sheeple". An American did. I think it was not intended as an anti-American label, but a sharp wake-up call, something America in general NEEDS...pro-American, sort of like its not anti-your-kid to bop him or her upside the head to wake up before he or she falls off the couch. Just my opinion, but yeh, I really do think its PRO-American to try to wake up the sheeple before they are led right over a precipice.   See 27 other replies
