I think comparing them is wrong. You're belittling House's occupation and not his character. If you said House was an a$$ and David was a better character then him, then I would have no problem. But you're phrasing it to imply that scientist are better then doctor's. While what you have said makes sense that doctor's would go to technical experts to find out specific's or origins if a disease as well as how to fight it, the doctor must find out the effect it has on the patient as well as the correct prescription for said patient. The scientist and doctor work together to figure the problem and solve it (if possible).Plus, many doctor's went on to become scientist/researcher's and vie-versa. The same could be said about house inspectors and house builders.   See 1 other reply
