I just wanted to throw in my two cents' worth- about Katherine. Not that she never raises her voice, but on the whole she is not the kind of person to yell at someone. For one, she's just a nice person. She's also more deliberate. When she does want to insult someone or say something harsh though, she does so softly and in a subtle way, but it stings.   See 29 other replies

There is also a college fund for latinos and asians from different countries if you want to knock on that too which you probably will. but lets face it we're both a little bitter. im tired of facing these stupid remarks, your tired that all these minorities are so unfairly getting a shortcut and special recognition for being less than 20% of the population and of course anything they build for themselves and assert themselves is an automatic threat. thats all i had to say sweetheart. have a great life. i'll always strive too not matter my situation or what anyone has to say about me or my people, which does include Afro-Americans and ultimately anyone willing to let humans be humans including letting them have a culture. Exactly your narrow minded thoughts and opinions. black people will learn to take care of ourselves. We always figured out a way. and the negro college fund goes to a section of colleges that are only 3% of the total college population. You wouldnt even know about it if not about the commercials. 1st of all why is it that I neglected to see anything about the "United Negro College Fund" in any of your posts??? Why don't you tell me of ONE College fund that is for "Caucasion" people ONLY. NO! b/c NONE EXIST! So how in the hell can you claim that Black people do not think the "white man" owes them anything?!!! Please enlighten me on how that organization IS NOT DISCRIMINATING against EVERY RACE that is NOT BLACK!
As for your comment about everyone not having the same opportunities to succeed...you are correct. Saying that...Black people have a huge advantage over any other race in America, due to that BS "United Negro College Fund"!!!
Also, just b/c Bob's family is blessed with more money does NOT mean that he necessarily has ANY advantage over Jim when it comes to school progress. Money does not mean that Bob will study as much as Jim or whether Bob will miss 75 days of school, to Jim's 2 days. Race, money, or w/e other obstacles that a child may have does not define the CHOICES they can make to better themselves.
As for racial slurs...how in the hell can you say that "cracka" is not even remotely in the same league of offensiveness to white people as the "N" word is to black people??? Black people CHOSE to use the word "cracka" as a derogatory, offensive, and rude name for "Caucasions"!!!! IF black people don't like being called the "N" word, then they should quit using it themselves! IF it is such an offensive word, then why use it to call each other? Part 3:3) Your statement that "blacks are viewed as they are due to their actions" seems to suggest that stereotyping and racial profiling is okay. By that same logic, it is ok for people to assume that all homosexuals have HIV, or that women are worse at math, or that all Muslims are terrorists (all of which are hugely inaccurate). Racism and prejudice are NEVER okay, and shame on you for making excuses for it.P.S. Racial or other offensive slurs of any group are not ok either. This includes the n-word, the k-word, the w-word, the ch-word, the d-word, the f-word, and any others that I may have missed (since I don't use that language in the first place). These words are rooted in a deep history of discrimination and injustice, and how dare you even put them in the same category as "cracka," which, quite frankly, I have never heard outside of television. It's still not a word I'd use, but it's not even remotely in the same league of offensiveness.   See 29 other replies

Part 2:2) I have never accused the "white man" of owing me anything, but you're fooling yourself if you think that history doesn't play a part. It is much harder for someone born in poverty to come out of it than it is for someone born with a life of privilege to maintain it. One example: Say we have two 14-year-old boys (regardless of race), one extremely poor and one upper middle class. Let's call them Jim and Bob, respectively. What does Bob do during summer breaks? Well, because Bob's parents can afford it, he might go to a summer enrichment program, take PSAT prep classes, or do something else mentally stimulating. Jim would like to do the same, but his family's struggling to make ends meet and can barely put food on the table. So, instead, he works so that he can help his parents pay the bills. Who do you think is going to be more prepared when school starts again? Expanding on this a bit, Jim's family is still poor, but his manager says he can continue working during the school year. So, of course, he works. Bob, however, does not have to work, and so spends his after-school hours studying or participating in activities like varsity athletics or the arts, padding his resume quite nicely. Also, because Bob doesn't have to work, he has more time to devote to his studies. Assuming Jim and Bob are of equal intelligence, Bob is much more likely to excel because of this extra time. If he does struggle, his parents can afford to get him a tutor, etc. See where I'm going with this? This may be America, but, like it or not, we do not ALL have the same opportunities to succeed.   See 29 other replies
