I thought the movie was very thought provoking. I had to ponder the idea that there are many different lives in this world. Quite different than what would be considered as the "norm". But what they experience is nevertheless real. This movie touched on some of them.
I pitied them all. Seems I've lived parts of my life in some of them; I've seen family confrontations with almost violent reactions; lived alongside the gamer folks; been considered white trash; experienced the fantasy life in a dancer scenario; been the dumb girl with the bully boyfriend; & yes, I've wanted to be the raving mother.
I must say that the director guy was insane with his over-the-edge acting! I could feel the raw emotions pouring from him & indeed the mother's too. Most of the acting in general was good with some being absolutely outsanding!
The script was easy to follow, understanding the different lives were deep. But it needed fleshing out. For one thing, nobody seemed to have any real jobs.
I had to wonder how Byron could even get women to notice him. He seemed like a bum who didn't know how to express himself. Although I'm glad he gave the ticket back to the girl without confrontation. IMO, he could have offered them 1/2 of it being that she bought everyone a ticket (including her boyfriend this time) but didn't buy it for a regular member of the house, Byron.
I would have rated this movie higher because of the acting but the script needed to be fleshed out & some of the club & sex scenes were just too much for me. I enjoyed the movie as an adult.
