Why is everyone implying that because she looks cutesy and dorky that the theme of the show is about how unattractive and undateable she is? She has an attractive guy in a high position so it's obvious they aren't playing the swan card here. Dorky looking girls can get men too and aren't any less hot simply because they have glasses and a quirky personality!! You're pushing that standard on her, not the creators of the show.

Wtf. Were we watching the same thing? People who need glasses aren't any less attractive simply for having them, that's quite insulting of you to insinuate otherwise. And yes her life seems perfect but apparently her future self knows something different/that isn't obvious from the intro episode. I like the idea of the show, it actually IS original, and I like imagining how different my life would be if I had prior knowledge of certain relationships before I got into any.

i don't think her life is perfect, nor are they insinuating that her life is some tragedy. she's not feeling sorry for herself in any of this. she has a nice life, but her boyfriend is a douche bag! were you not watching? and anyway, no one said anything about her being unattractive just cause she has glasses. i mean if that was the gimmick wouldn't she have no boyfriend?

I don't know if I can get in to this show. It doesn't sound too appealing, although I guess producers are trying to capitalize on "the app age." I am watching the first episode and am rather bored. The show isn't really funny (like "I Hate My Teenager Daughter"). The character Lucy is a lot like Betty of Ugly Betty. Demode clothing (out of style/not fashionable), has that dork appeal with mannerisms and glasses and lacks confidence. She seems like a wall flower -compared to the dumb blonde in first episode sitting next to Lucy's fiancee. (Again, why wasn't the couple sitting together?)
Again, why is she riding a bike? Is it explained in the show: is she eco-friendly? Did she loose her driving privileges or can't she afford a car at her age? -Also, her bike is very grandmotherly.

Agreed. I actually like both shows and do not see the comparison at all kinda feels like saying Harry Potter is like twilight cuz both shows involve supernatural. This show has such a unique premise and original cast. New girl has been done "2 guys a girl and pizza place starring Jenna Elfman" It is a great show still and I think Zoe is adorable but I do like this show better! I think its quite unique, witty, and the cast is hot. Taylor Kinney Yum! See 14 other replies

The whole "glasses and mousy clothes make a girl unattractive and nerdy" thing was done in "She's All That" in the 90s. That girl is super hot and there's no way she wouldn't know she could get any man she wanted.
