Remember when the movie "Airplane" came out, and the humor seemed to be so fresh and new - and we all thought it was ground-breaking comedy? I was watching this episode (Attempted Marriage) for about the 30th time this morning, and I realized that there are lines in this one that pre-date Airplane, but match the insanely funny wit. Example: Laura is crying in the chapel. Rob says: "Honey, I hate to see you cry like this." Laura cries back, "Well I'm sorry! It's the only way I know how to cry!" Sure, it’s a bit vaudeville, 'old school humor' with a play on words... but, so perfectly executed. Other than I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show, we really never got to see that kind of humor until Airplane came around, then the "Police Squad" movies, etc. Clean humor, and really funny stuff.
Rob with the jeep keys in his mouth, only to drop them in the radiator? Hilarious! Rob saying "I do" at all the wrong moments because he's sick (during the 2nd attempt at getting married)... hilarious. In the Doctor's office, when he's trying to pry open (up) the window, and it slowly starts to open, but only from the top down. Hilarious! I laugh out loud so hard every time I watch this episode.
Blooper alert: Watch when Rob is at the Doctors. He is left alone to call and 'cancel' his wedding by phone. He 'fakes' the phone call, and at first, he asked the operator for "Guest Room 3" - then a moment later, he says, "Yes… Guest Room One, please..."
This show is classic funny fantastic humor with great acting, writing and never gets old.
