I grew up loving the Dick Van Dyke show. Although I still do in some ways, as a woman living in the real world, the incessant "Oh Robs" and portrayals of women inherently in need of protection by men or treated by scriptwriters as unworthy of equal regard have begun to wear thin. Perhaps I've seen one too many girls fall prey to the notion that some knight in shining armor is going to swoop down and protect them from every evil. Never having had the luxury myself, and having witnessed so many unfortunate outcomes to that assumption, I hate to see more girls beguiled by television fantasy. It's a shame that real life has made me look at this show in a jaded way though. The acting in every episode of the Dick Van Dyke show was absolutely outstanding.

I've really enjoyed watching this show. I never had Nick at Night as a kid, so I've never seen it before. I'm really impressed with timelessness of some of the dynamics between Rob and Laura and the issues the characters face.This episode is so well done. It's hilarious. I was laughing out loud for a majority of it. I could watch it again!

I still don't understand how someone who was in the army can have a fear of guns, but I do love all of the Dick Van Dyke shows. This is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time. They just don't make shows like this anymore good clean fun.

Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore are great together.

Every time I see this episode I laugh! Laura is so hilarious with her "Oh Rob!" and when Rob goes out there trying to protect his home it's toooooo funny. I love this show. It's my favorite sitcom of all time. I never tire of it. The subjects are timeless. A true treasure of classic TV.
