I laughed all the way through this!
After getting my Master's Degree, I couldn't find a job for 2 years, so I was the "Drive-thru queen" at McDonalds. So, at first, I felt in the same situation--that I was too smart, too qualified, too good to work at a menial fast food place.
I'm now in a job I love, in the education field, but I actually have many fond memories of working at McDonalds. And many unpleasant memories. But, I loved this episode, because I have had to deal with all of that.
Except, there is no way that a new employee would be taking orders during lunch rush. Or working on the grill without supervision. I don't care how smart you are. At McDonalds, it was called "Aces in their Places." Since I was an ace on drive-thru, that was my home away from home. Now, I would train others during lunch rush, but I would always be beside them, ready to take over if something happened. But it took me a long time to get to the ace point.
So, that was the manager's fault there.
And goofing off--oh, yeah! It is a stressful, underpaid job. When I worked the overnight shift, we made a stuffed Elmo doll commit suicide by hanging. I wrote a suicide note for him, a coworker strung him up using the sticker tape. And we left it for the morning crew to clean up.
So, this episode made me laugh so hard!
