The devote' of Scrabble is just the same as people who are FANATICS of other games like chess, backgammon (I know from personal experience), poker, monopoly and others. Chess' latest large scale victim, of course, was Bobby Fischer. A genius at chess,he virtually led the chess movement in the 70s, but had trouble with intrapersonal relationships and in his later years looked just like any one of these guys. Marlon was the most well rounded of these four, but he is so militant that its hard to see him doing anything else either. Only one of the 4 was married, as they showed it--no real suprise there. And his wife felt more like a codependent than anything else. I know it seems like I'm knocking it, but not really. I do admire someone who is devoted to something, but I think the question comes more into the WHAT that they are doing. It would probably be better to devote oneself to something that people would admire you for on a large scale or at least something that could bring much more financial gain.
