This would be an interesting case if in real life: a DA assistant releases a person from jail and hires him for an illegal job (murder in this case) and then sets him up to be captured.
Could you imagine how long this would float around in the courts with entrapment / conspiracy theories regarding the police dept hiring out convicts for murder (or other jobs) then re-arresting and charging them with the crimes.
I bet if the guy had a good attorney, and some money, he'd be out and die of old age before the case was even fully settled.... at a taxpayers' cost literally topping a million.
