Wow, these guys have been through it all and still continue to beat obstacles in life.. best of luck to all of them, you are giving so much hope to so many!
One of the most inspiring stories I have ever seen. To have been through what they have endured and still thrive is truly amazing. I don't want to sound generic and write how much I admire what they have been through in all sorts of different ways. What I will say though, is that when I am on a bus, train, in a supermarket, wherever... and I see a stranger I will smile at them and no longer pretend I do not see my fellow human brothers and sisters. Because what this movie has finally made me realize is that you never know who you are coming in contact with.
Unlike another review I see here, I found it to an uplifting story about some courageous boys who overcame severe hardship and managed to succeed in making their world better. I don't see it as a movie to make me sad about the US, rather I am glad that they were able to come here and find refuge and work to help others. There are many things wrong with the US, but it is still the land of opportunity and this movie certainly brings that out. It is quite ignorant to make a judgement that America is full of racist, egotistical, and cruel people from the few situations that were recorded in this movie, then completely ignore the aid and assistance and friendship the other Americans gave.
I really enjoyed this "Coming to America" story from the point of view of these refugees. I have met many refugees in my life, but mostly when I was a kid. I never asked them to tell me their story of what it was like to come here. This was very enlightening. Another film along similar lines is Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002) about the stolen "half-caste" Aboriginal children in Australia.
just another example of racist America , they were clearly better off staying in africa, they bring them over to a very strange land and not even explain what the food is or the products are for, very cruel, sad and egotistic that the average American thinks their land and way of life is superior to others, the American crap food and product is so unhealthy ,the quality of life and food was so much better back in these young men's native land,
