There's no doubt that fans of the video game will enjoy the animation of the very same game they have played. From the day to day transitions, all the way down to the sound cues taken straight out of the game, I could not help but express sheer delight to the show.

But a gigantic word of caution: anyone unfamiliar with Persona 4 will find the pacing way too fast, and will ultimately find the early episodes shallow and unfulfilling. This is reasonable since translating at least 100 hours of gameplay to 20 minute episodes while staying true to the game's story and mechanics is immensely difficult. As for myself, I believe that a task like this is impossible, but I am open to be proven wrong. For now, Persona 4: The Animation is a fan's nostalgic trip, but a newcomer's nightmare.

I'm glad they're not following the exact script of the game, like I've seen some stories do.

There seem to be some issues with pacing, but I feel that they really added a lot to the Konishi incident. The scene with Yousuke texting at the assembly was kind of epic, and the clip of the two girls talking during the "boss battle" was definitely a nice touch. I didn't -really- expect to like this anime, but so far I'm actually pretty excited. Can't wait for the next one.

Another good episode! Chie shoulda smashed the face of that creep bothering Yukiko. It's refreshing to watch characters that interact like real friends do. Ending theme is ultra cheese, but even the occasional cheesy moments still leave me smiling warmly. Absolutely thrilled to watch the series progress. Wonder what details might be different.

This definitely reinforces the good from the first episode. If they take it slow and steady- things work out alright.

I hope they don't smash things together too quickly- which with an estimated 24 episodes scheduled- they very well could.
The early part of the story is very much jam-packed- which set me up to relax and enjoy the rest of the year at a more languid pace.

That was one of the reason this game stuck out to me- since I usually am scrabbling for the next major plot point. Instead- you get a nice steady dosing- which they can dose it out gradually- and build on the existing stories from the game.

Here's a question: Would you want to see fairly in-depth sequences about some of the Social Link characters- or more of a scattering- like in the game?
