This was a particularly moving account of the events of 9/11, but as with most anything that contains any form of faith in this day and age, there is always someone's bitter, hatefulness that tries to destroy the beauty found in faith in God, as was illustrated in this film. It's become very popular in this country to believe in "nothing", as some of the comments here indicate, but as a Christian, it makes me feel very good to know that God was sought and found on that dreadful day, in the midst of such devastation and horror. One of His greatest promises to us is that 'all things work together for that which is good.' I think you have to have faith to understand this statement in the way it was meant, and then it becomes perfectly clear and comes with a peace that the mockers wouldn't begin to 'get'. To those who don't believe, I would simply say, that if you had honor and compassion - from any source - you would not try to destroy the hope that Christ's love brings to so many. You would respect the liberty afforded all of us, and not just your own choices.
When you mock a person's faith, it shows "your" weakness, not theirs. For thousands of years, Christians have endured mockery and persecution for their beliefs, but it is those who believe in nothing that have my pity. Because the part you don't see is the peace that passes your understanding that every Christian feels. The joy in the midst of pain and sorrow, that only He can provide. It's not real to you because you don't understand the concept of faith, but if you ever pursue His love, you'll never be without it and only then could you possibly understand the concept of God. You can't have a closed heart and mind, and understand faith. You can't understand love when you're filled with hatred. You can continue to look down on any person of faith as dillusional and using "God" as a crutch, but if I'm to be broken - as we all are in one way or another in this world - this crutch I'll gladly accept and embrace, because over the course of my life, His love has been the one truth I've been able to rely upon time and time again. It never fades and it never leaves me feeling hopeless. Any Christian will tell you "why" they believe, but what you hear is determined by your ability to listen with your heart.
This country was founded on the principles of freedom of religion, and since you have no religion, it would be appropriate for you to step aside and allow those of us who do, to enjoy that freedom. Having hope and faith does NOT hurt others, and to imply that it's somehow been forced on you in the making of this film is ludicrous. No one forced you to watch it and the title was quite clear as to its content.
We'll keep praying and believing, just as we always have, whether your voice is silent or not, because when you believe in something, you stand up for it. To believe in and stand for nothing is hopeless. There is no 'watering down' of what a Christian believes, because someone doesn't think it's cool. What do you stand for? You say you don't believe in God, yet most of you have at some point in your lives called out His name in your time of need. Someday I'd like an athiest to explain this to me. When your car is about to careen into a ditch, why do you not yell out OH SELF, SAVE ME, instead of OH GOD! lol
In the meantime, look for the evidence that demands YOUR verdict and you'll find it. God be with you.
