In 2000, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I refused all treatment and started preparing my soul to leave this world. I am 3/8th American Indian, African and Scottish. I reviewed the ways all of my cultures prepared and purified their souls for departure to spirit world. I chose to go the 'American Indian way and went to medicine and sweat lodges. Six months later, my doctor finally got in touch with me. She was very worried about (what she thought) was my deteriorating condition. So, I went to see her. She ran more tests and advised me to at least talk to an oncologist. I told her I was ok with dying. One week later she called me and asked me to come back in to her office quickly. She cleared her schedule to accommodate me. I went back in, knowing that she would say that I had 'two days' to live or somesuch. She took samples again and sent them off saying the lab made a mistake on the last tests. I did not even bother to ask after their original findings. I agreed to come back in a week. When I came in, she and three other doctors awaited me. 'They asked me what had I been doing to 'prepare" for my death. I told them. They sat there in stunned silence, Finally, my doctor advised that I no longer had any traits of cancer. All tests had come back negative. A couple of months later, my doctor called me again. She had read an article in the New Englland Journal of Medicine that advised if the body was heated to a certain temperature, it would cure anything in that body, including cancer, arthritis, etc. She asked if she could come to the lodge. Unfortunately for her, this was not allowable, It is a spiritual ceremony that is very sacred. That was nine years ago and the cancer has never returned. The medicine of these old ways works. Western Medicine is clueless to alternative healing techniques. They unintentionally hurt so many people because of this ignorance. It has become more about the drug companies getting rich and the surgeons getting rich than it is about healing. By the way, I have a Ph.D in Psychology. Sometimes, an open mind is all one needs to heal.
