I wasn't sure what to expect at first. But I was totally taken by surprise! It was well written, acted and sung. The theme kinda reminded me of The Tick (the live action series) with Patrick Warburton. This would make a great tv series.

Dr. Horrible is no different, although rarely does the tragedy play out with catchy music with intelligent lyrics. Dr. Horrible forever!

A really great performance by NPH. Maybe put Dr. Horrible on broadway?

People this is the new opera, it’s comic and tragic. Absolutely brilliant, Joss Whedon is an unrecognized genius. I have watched this twice already, and plan to watch it again ...

I would love to see this done as a stage production. Purely for selfish reasons however because I would love to play Dr Horrible. Who would you be?

The Whedon clan are from above. Wonder what they're captains of. I need a freeze ray to stop the world, to find the time, to find the words, to tell how this blog makes me feel. ...

Wow... I can't believe how great this was. It was clever, funny, and witty! It. was. awesome. And unlike that dreadful musical "Sweeny Todd", these actors actually knew how to sing, and the music was actually GOOD. Did I mention that I hated "Sweeny Todd"?
Anyway, I hope they do more of this stuff in the future. Was this review helpful?

I put this on mostly as a lark because it sounded like something that would drive my roommate nuts. I had no idea who was in it nor that Joss Whedon and his brother (I think?) worked on it. It had us rolling in laughter right at the opening of that first letter from bad horse and before we knew it we had watched a wonderful 45 minutes of free tv.
The quality of the music was more than I expected too. Sure it's no Ravel or Elgar, but the lyrics and melody are artfuly done. It's more than a match for most of the things that make it to broadway. The singing was fairly impressive; the actor who played Penny was cute and had a truly beautiful voice. I've seen the two primary male actors before, but I had no idea either of them could sing that well either. The acting was better than that seen in most TV shows and romantic comedies. The actor who plays Captain Hammer, Nathan Fillion, is a favorite of mine from Firefly and plays the arrogant anti-hero to a tee. Neil Patrick Harris captures the awkwardness, pain, and ambiguity of Dr. Horrible better than I could have imagined. It's clear he's a far better and more mature actor than back in his Doogie Howser days. The writing must also be recognized for what is is- honest and brilliant. Think what you might of Joss Whedon, he knows how to write dialog better than pretty much anyone else involved in science fiction. What his writing brought to this particular work was an emotional depth I did not expect from this title. Sure it is a comedy on its surface, but there is a soul to it as well. This musical is worth the watch. If you're a crier you might need a few tissues though. Was this review helpful?

I would like to start out says that I truly enjoyed this show, everything was great, acting, music, lyrics, ect. and I had a great time watching it.
But...
A couple people have made references to Joss Whedon's Buffy series, and how they enjoyed his other shows. Something I also agree with but it felt like I was listening to a rehash of the music from Buffy's Once More With Feeling... without even knowing Joss had written this I knew, just by the music and tempo. I just wish he'd come up with some more new stuff is all.
still a great show, and those who haven't seen the buffy series and loved this show will more than likely like buffy and should check it out.
